Long Beach Dub Allstars Return with a Dub Remix of “Higher Rank” By Roger Rivas

Hot off their performance at this year’s Cali Vibes Festival alongside Dirty Heads and Wu-Tang Clan, reggae/ska legends Long Beach Dub Alllstars have returned with “Higher Dub,” a remix of “Higher Rank” courtesy of Roger Rivas.

The dub version of the song perfectly compliments the positive vibes and catchy melodies of the original while bringing something new and unique to the table.

“Higher Dub” is the second of a two-part limited edition vinyl 7″ inch single collection now available online at SRH.com. Each vinyl comes in two color options per track, with new original art by LBDA’s own Opie Ortiz.

Today’s generation of reggae-rock fans may not fully understand how critical this group was to the reggae-rock genre following Sublime’s conclusion in 1996. They played at a time when social media was non-existent. Live-videos of their early performances are mostly of grainy VHS quality, while most live-photos shot by fans were with throw-away cameras. There was no Youtube, Facebook, and this was before Myspace or even iTunes. They were the torchbearers of a genre that Sublime introduced and the original ‘Dub Allstars lineup included most of the players who were involved in cultivating that Reggae-Rock sound with Brad Nowell. Now reunited after a lengthy hiatus, these musical professors and legends from Long Beach continue to write new chapters to the legacy of Long Beach Dub Allstars.

Long Beach Dub Allstars returned their first album in nearly 20 years in 2020 with the release of the group’s new self-titled album. The album went on to debut at #7 on the Billboard Reggae Album Chart and stake Long Beach Dub Allstars place as pioneers of the West Coast reggae-rock sound.
