How were you introduced to Reggae music? Matisyahu Pepper and more tell their story.

From Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Toots Hibbert to Sublime and Slighty Stoopid.
We all have a story of how we found this beautiful music. The vibration and feeling we got that first time.

I remember seeing  the Bob Marley “Exodus” cassette in my Pops tape collection when I was young. He mainly listened to Frank Sinatra and Big Band music but he LOVED
Bob Marley.. When I got into my teens and was searching for the music that moved me, I found Bad Brains. After hearing “I love Jah” I went straight to my Pops tapes and “borrowed” all his Bob Marley cassettes. Get up, Stand up was the track that really got me hooked, it’s also what introduced me to Peter Tosh and in doing so I found “Legalize it” which became one of my favorite albums of all time.

The Pier had a chance to sit down with some of the Reggae Rock community and ask them how they were introduced to Reggae.

Matisyahu, Keleo Wassman of Pepper, Sa Roc, Denm, Raging Fyah, James of Tropidelic, Little Stranger, Arise Roots, The Kaleidoscope Kid, and Tunnel Vision tell us their story.
