Rising Jamaican artist Ras-I teams up with dancehall heavyweight Govana for “Oya,” a smooth, romantic track that leans into the softer side of dancehall.
Built around laid-back rhythms and melodic delivery, “Oya” highlights the chemistry between the two artists, blending Ras-I’s reggae foundation with Govana’s polished dancehall edge. The result is a track that feels equally suited for late-night listening and summer playlists.
The single serves as the fifth and final preview of Ras-I’s upcoming album Heart of Love, set for release May 15 via Ineffable Records. The project is expected to further establish his place within the new wave of reggae and dancehall artists pushing the genre forward.
Heart of Love will also feature appearances from Kabaka Pyramid, NESTA, and Khalia, adding depth to a project centered on melody, connection, and modern reggae influences.
Ras-I’s momentum has been steadily building. He took home Best New Reggae Artist at the 2024 Caribbean Music Awards, and his track “Somewhere Wonderful” was selected as the official song for the Jamaica Tourist Board, further expanding his reach beyond traditional music spaces.
With “Oya,” Ras-I closes out the Heart of Love rollout on a high note, setting the tone for a project that looks poised to make a strong impact this summer.
