No Doubt “Settles Down” Lawsuit

No doubt has settled a lawsuit with Activision Publishing Inc. just weeks before the case was to reach the state court. The LA rock-quad was to introduce claims of fraud, violation of publicity rights, and breach of contract, however the creators of Activision’s 2009 video game “Band Hero settled on Monday. Terms of the settlement were not made public to the press.

On September 25th, No Doubt released Push and Shove, their first album in nearly eleven years. Within weeks of their return to the forefronts of the music industry however, they settled a three-year lawsuit over a feature in “Band Hero”, which allowed gamers to perform the songs of artists using the likeness of front woman Gwen Stefani and other band members.

The game was introduced by Activision as a derivation to another music-driven theme, Guitar Hero. Neither representative’s attorney commented on the suit, but the band claims “Band Hero” turned the coup into a “virtual karaoke circus act.”

The case also referred to suggestive moments from Rolling Stones’ hit “Honky Tonk Women” while other reports indicate that a virtual Tony Kanal’s sings his hit “Just a Girl” in Stefani’s voice.

In other news, No Doubt will be featured on Fox’s hit show Glee on Wednesday October 4th. In the fourth episode of the fourth series, The Glee cast performed No Doubt’s classic hit, Don’t Speak. I guess they prefer Glee over Band Hero! Check the song below.
