Passafire – “Night Comes Easy”
“Night Comes Easy” Background:
Passafire’s new 13 track album Vines will be available for public consumption in both physical & digital format on Tuesday, November 11th courtesy of Easy Star Records. This marks the groups fifth album release & their first under Easy Star records. Mixed once again by infamous producer Paul Leary, the band ensures fans the new music includes metal, folk, reggae, and synthesizers. Working in a familiar setting brought comfort to the group during the recording process. “The staff at Sonic Ranch is amazingly proficient and we just don’t see any reason to record anywhere else!”
Here’s what guitarist/vocalist, Ted Bowne had to say about the song “Night Comes Easy”: “This song is about the comfort we’ve come to enjoy living in a protected place while outsiders plot and scheme to penetrate the safety net. We’ve come to accept the night as a time to relax and unwind whereas in early human existence we feared night time because it was when we were most vulnerable to attack from other tribes of humans or predatory animals. It’s also a statement about how the things we do now in the present could end up being perceived completely different in the future. “The times they are a-changin’.”
Ted continued on by addressing the title of the album by saying “…As the years progress, our stylistic preferences change and intertwine to a point where the music becomes tighter like ‘Vines’ growing around each other over a long period of time.” You can pre-order a copy of Vines on Passafire’s website by clicking HERE
Passafire Background:
Passafire formed 10 years ago in Savannah, GA. The current line-up, including front man Ted Bowne, bassist Will Kubley, drummer Nick Kubley and keys maestro Mike DeGuzman, came together in 2011 to create Start From Scratch—the band’s fourth studio album. The highly anticipated follow-up, Vines, is the band’s first release on Easy Star Records. As a band, Passafire is a breath of fresh air in the rock-reggae scene and, along with a handful of other bands, continues to make music that calls into question the confines of the scene.
Easy Star Record’s chief executive officer, Eric Smith had this to say about bringing Passafire onto the growing roster “We are very excited that we have teamed up with Passafire. They bring the same care and love that we bring to the game at Easy Star, so it really is a great partnership. It was just clear off the bat that we were on the same page, which is really critical for us at the label.” Passafire joins Easy Star Records who’s label also includes John Brown’s Body, Easy Star All-Stars, The Green & Cas Haley.
