This winter, fans who enjoy the heavier side of the reggae-rock sub-genre are in for a real treat as the Winter Blackout Tour 2014 is set to take off in late January! The annual tour, hosted by The Expendables, will feature fellow California-based bands, Stick Figure and Seedless this time around.
Dating back to as early as 2010, The Expendables have headlined this national tour with direct support from bands like Fortunate Youth, Through The Roots, The B Foundation and more throughout the years.
With this year’s lineup, fans can expect the usual high energy show but this time with more guitar and bass shredding solos, between Seedless and The Expendables, as they tend to have a more aggressive sound than your average reggae-rock band. Stick Figure will remain a solid balance between the other two bands bringing a heavily dub-influenced performance with a more mellow style while still keeping the “Vibes Alive.”
Shay Pino, drummer of Seedless, told The Pier, “We have been playing with The Expendables for a while now. We both have a little heavier sound so we mesh well together when we play shows. Plus, we are huge fans of them and have been going to the Winter Blackout Tour for years now. We are just honored that they considered us for the 2014 tour.” He also mentioned that Seedless is excited to share the stage with Stick Figure since Cali Roots 2013 was only their first time playing a show with the San Diego based band.
Although the two supporting acts for the upcoming Winter Blackout Tour have built a solid following, expect them to be bringing a special force on stage with them as they are trying to reach the level of success that The Expendables have obtained on a national scale since their beginning.
Shay added, “We (Seedless) are really excited to hit the road again, it’s been over a year since we last toured nationally. Looking forward to revisiting places we have been and all the new places we will see. We just really want to spread our music to as many ears as we can.”
This Friday, November 8th, The Expendables will also be conducting a Google Hangout at 4:20pm Eastern to coincide with the opening of ticket sales. One member of each band on the bill will be answering questions submitted via comment on WinterBlackout.com before 12pm Eastern.
As always, make sure to stop by The Pier for more news and updates in the reggae community!
