Jamaican dancehall singer, Wayne Marshall has announced a U.S. Spring Tour in support of his new album Tru Colors. The album, released on January 21, debuted at #4 on the Billboard Reggae Album Chart and is his first album release in over a decade.
Fans and critics have shown strong support for the album; happy the musician is back at it since his debut album Marshall Law produced in 2003.
Tru Colors will include 13 tracks written and produced by Marshall and Damian Marley on the Marley family owned label, Ghetto Youths International. Several accompanying artists join Marshall on the album including sister-in-law Tessanne Chin, winner of this season’s NBC’s The Voice, who contributed to “On the End”. Other featured artists include Ace Hood, Cham, and Waka Flocka on “Go Harder”, Aidonia, Assassin, I-Octane, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, Bounty Killer and Vybz Kartel on “Go Hard”, and Tarrus Riley on “Nah Give Up”.
Fans first got a taste of Tru Colors (titled after the varied hues of Marshall’s musical palette) back in mid 2012 with the release of his single “Go Hard”, which was met with success on the charts. Listeners can expect a fusion of witty dancehall wordplay of the ‘80s and ‘90s reggae style, with influences ranging as far as alternative rock. Marshall takes on provocative themes in some of his lyrics including dealing with infidelity, societal critique, life-threatening illnesses and fake friends.

With over a decade of experiences to write about, the album has been much anticipated and Marshall promises that this album showcases the best that his music has ever been before. He praises Damian for making his vision come true, “[He] brought the focus to this album, I have learned so much from him, I don’t think I have seen anyone go as hard when it comes to the time invested, the standard of the product, even studying the history of the musical archives,” Marshall said. “I feel very good about the songs that we have put together and believe Tru Colors will be a stepping stone towards taking my career to the next level.”
Marshall will be joined on the spring tour through April and May by Stephen “Ragga” Marley and Jo Mersa and will be hitting up over 20 cities throughout the nation. The tour also features the release of Stephen Marley’s new album Revelation Pt. 2 – The Fruit of Life, set for release in February.
