Dirty Heads on The Today Show + Fall Tour Lineup

Dirty Heads found themselves performing their new single, “That’s All I Need,” on The Today Show before announcing their Fall Tour line-up and dates. The Pier has stayed on top of the latest news and gathered some insider info about the band’s latest cross-country jump to appear on The Today Show.

TodayShowDH1Dirty Heads made a big appearance on Wednesday, August 3rd, 2016 to promote their new self-titled album on The Today Show on NBC. The Pier talked with keyboardist, Shawn Hagood, before and after the appearance. As previously covered by The Pier years ago, Dirty Heads lucked out finding Shawn playing at a bar in Florida while on one of the earlier tours. According to Jared Watson, “We played in Florida one night, with the Gym Class Heroes…But this one night in Florida we went out to a bar after the show, and there was this guy on keys… and we were looking for a guy who plays keys and who can sing, and [Shawn] was up there nailing the keys and nailing the harmonies.”

Back to present day and for their Today Show performance, somehow, the guys found the time and energy to report at the crack of dawn to New York before rushing back to Texas for their Corpus Christi show later that same night. Dedicated fans following the band and individual members on social media were treated to some backstage pictures and videos showing the pre & post show exuberance while many fans found their way to Studio 1A for the early morning live broadcast that concluded with Dirty Heads performing the new hit single, “That’s All I Need.”

Prior to The Today Show performance, Jared posted a video comparing his 3:30am wake-up time with co-anchor Al Roker’s 4:00am, receiving a funny response from Mr. Roker stating: “and you have to perform, all I have to do is show up!

TodayShowDH3The morning was a lot of hurry up and wait…after the early wake up the band had rehearsal at 5:00am before waiting for the 9:00am shoot. In order to do that, the boys had to fly cross-country for the early morning performance in New York before jetting back to Texas for the evening show. In order to meet the tight timeline, the band hopped aboard a private jet to make the long flights and catch a few hours of sleep aboard the quiet and spacious accommodations prior to playing another set. They went through a 2-hour delay getting to New York in the first place and could not risk another delay returning for the Corpus Christi show.

Now that Dirty Heads have wrapped up their summer tour with Sublime with Rome, Tribal Seeds and Bleeker, the group will take a break before embarking on their Fall Tour with 23 nationwide shows alongside RDGLDGRN and NeW bEAt FUNd that begins Oct. 7th, 2016.

RDGLDGRN and NeW bEAt FUNd bring a sound in contrast to that of the summer tour line up and should prove to be an interesting bill of new music as NeW bEAt FUNd continue to promote their latest record, Sponge Fingerz.
