Artist Radar: T.U.G.G.

This week, The Pier’s Artist Radar is on T.U.G.G. (Pronounced Tug), hailing from La Crosse, WI. This is a group putting their stamp on the Midwest and carefully paying homage to the roots of the music they play, most notably with their song Revolution which features production from legendary reggae/dub Producer Mad Professor and a guest vocal appearance from international reggae star Pato Banton!

Some of the groups we select for the Artist Radar you may have already heard of, at which point we encourage you tell your friends to come check out the feature on the group that always includes a free song if nothing else! Its our goal to introduce you to new music & artists, such as T.U.G.G., so for those who have not heard of the group, enjoy the read & the FREE song from their latest release Come Sunrise… Check back every week for a NEW Artist Radar!

2 cups of reggae
1 cup of ska
1 stick of funk
1 lb of raw energy
4 highly talented musicians

Preparation: Take the reggae, ska, and stick of funk and combine them in a bowl. Whip it until the mixture is a smooth and frothy blend of unbelievable “Midwest Magic”. Take this sweet concoction and drizzle it atop the four musicians until they’re completely coated. Influence the musicians with a dash of: Sublime, Bob Marley, Rancid, Toots and the Maytals, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Mad Professor, The Specials, and George Clinton. Place the band in recording studios with other artists like Jah Teff and Pato Banton, Mad Professor, and Brad Ziggen.

Let this sweet reggae influenced rock and roll simmer slowly. Place the band into a van and ship them off to rock the nation.

As prepared, T.U.G.G. will serve all those willing to listen and leave them begging for the recipe!
