Australia’s reggae psych-rock juggernaut Sticky Fingers have announced September 30th, 2016 as the release date for their 3rd studio album, titled Westway (The Glitter & The Slums). The Sydney-based 5-piece recently released 2 smash hit singles, “Outcast At Last” and “Our Town,” from the highly anticipated release.
Also, marking the band’s 3rd visit to North America in just 2 years, the Stickies will return this fall for a 15 show run through the US and Canada.
Sticky Fingers have built a rabid following around the world, stemming from their 2 wildly successful full-lengths, Caress Your Soul (2013) and Land Of Pleasure (2014), as well as a pair of captivating EPs, Extended Play (2011) and Happy Endings (2011). Fronted by Dylan Frost (vocals/guitar) and Paddy Cornwall (bass), the band is completed by Seamus Coyle (lead guitar), Freddy Crabs (keys), Beaker Best (drums).
Sticky Fingers are known for their patented blend of psychedelic rock and reggae that has steadily evolved and branched out each successive release. Live, the band is an unpredictable, untamable force on stage. Soothing the crowd with a smooth reggae rhythm before conducting absolute chaos in the form of a screeching guitar solo or a Dylan Frost stage dive.
Westway (The Glitter & The Slums) was recorded in Bang Saray, Thailand over a 4-week period, following a grueling touring schedule. Sticky Fingers were looking for a studio that would allow them to both reside and record in. Dann Hume worked alongside the Sticky Boys to produce the 11-track album, which will release via Sureshaker Music.
To sum up what to expect from the forthcoming album, keyboardist Freddy Crabs explained to Australian music site Triple J, “It deals with rehab, break ups and loneliness, mixed with the transient nature of constantly being on the road and what that does to our bodies and our heads. The sound is more mature, heavier hitting but we still keep the sticky flavours in the pot to keep it all together.”
