Bob Marley & The Wailers have topped the Billboard Year-End Reggae Albums Artists chart, as well as the Year-End Reggae Albums chart with their greatest hits collection Legend: The Best Of Bob Marley & The Wailers—for the third year in a row.
Billboard also revealed that Legend, first released on May 8, 1984, holds No. 77 (down from No. 60 last year) on the Year-End Billboard 200 Albums chart, which ranks albums across all genres.
Marley’s three-year domination of the Reggae charts comes as no surprise. The 15x Platinum Legend album continues to sell and stream almost as much as the other 9 entries on the weekly Billboard Reggae chart, combined. Billboard had amended its rules in January 2020, allowing the 38-year-old album to dominate the weekly Reggae chart for the last three years. For the one week in 2022 Stick Figure’s Wisdom took the number 1 spot.
Both Stick Figure and Sean Paul hold 6 of the Top 10 spots for Top Selling Albums. (Sean Paul holds 4 spots in Top 15)
Albums by Koffee, Shenseea and Stick Figure that were released in 2022 made the year-end Billboard Reggae Albums chart. The remaining albums on the Top 15 list are older titles.
Gifted by Koffee, was released in March. Peaking at number 2 on the weekly chart, it is the 8th best-selling reggae album for the year.
Other albums that made the Top 15 best-selling reggae album chart for 2022 include: Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection by Shaggy. Dutty Classics Collection by Sean Paul. World on Fire by Stick Figure. Greatest Hits by UB40. Set in Stone by Stick Figure. Dutty Rock by Sean Paul. Mad Love: The Prequel by Sean Paul. Look for the Good by Jason Mraz. Live at Red Rocks by Rebelution. The Trinity by Sean Paul and Time Bomb by Iration.
The year-end chart tracks sales of albums for the period November 20, 2021 to November 12, 2022.
