Southern California surf-pop band Bikini Trill have released their brand new single, “Fucked Up“, which features a verse by Australian rapper, BLESSED. The genre blending collaboration is an ode to heartbreak that is equal parts melancholy and up-lifting. The track was produced by the band at their studio in Koreatown (Los Angeles) and features groovy bass lines, pop punk-esque guitars, and soaring vocals.

BLESSED’S feature on the second verse seamlessly melts into the music- delivering a vibey and laidback performance akin to Kid Cudi’s “Day N Night”. LJ (Singer) said the song came together pretty quickly and “within 30 minutes of emailing the file to BLESSED he had already sent over his verse”. When describing the meaning behind the new track LJ said it was born of “feeling overwhelmed by relationships” and that “sometimes, especially the last few years, life just feels so broken that all you can do is pick up the pieces and continue to move forward – even if you’re not ready.” Adding that for her “the process of faking it till you make it is where you ultimately find the answers you’re looking for” and that “even if you aren’t going through a break-up everyone has experienced heartbreak in some way shape or form- it’s okay to admit that life is fucked up and letting go of the idea that it has to be perfect 100% of the time is ultimate freedom”.
The addition of Shokka’s visuals give life to “FUCKED UP” illustrating the colorful landscape of this cosmic trio. The music video invites the viewer into the world of Bikini Trill showcasing their intimate Koreatown studio headquarters, the colorful characters that surround them, and the bands laidback sun-kissed vibe in technicolor.
