Cydeways, a group of reggae rockers out of Santa Barbara, CA, recently released their new single “Sun Goes Down.” The slow n’ easy tune is the first single off the band’s upcoming debut album, which Cydeways plans to reveal more information about in the near future.
Fronted by Dustin Parks (vocals/guitar), Cydeways also features Jeremy Baker (guitar), Pete Munzo (bass), and Trevor Buckingham (producer/engineer). The band initially formed in Boston, MA before Parks moved the project out west to Santa Barbara, CA.
Earlier this year, Cydeways dropped a 5-track EP titled Ride On, which showcased the group’s ability to craftily blend reggae, ska, and hip hop.
Cydeways recently performed a show in Santa Barbara with John Brown’s Body & Thrive!, and another with Tomorrows Bad Seeds in Hermosa Beach. “We had played a show in LA about a month ago, and their lead singer Moi was in the crowd. He’s a super cool dude, and he really liked our style,” says Parks. The TBS front-man was impressed enough to invite Cydeways to open for them a few weeks later.
The band is still putting the final touches on their debut LP, but Dustin Parks admits, “our album is actually going to be slightly different than our past work. Lead guitarist Jeremy Baker adds a lot to the project with style and song structure. We have some rootsy tracks like ‘Sun Goes Down,’ but the record will also consist of a lot more heavy style punk & ska tunes.”
“I think if you like ‘Sun Goes Down’ you are really going to like the rest of our album!”
