Southern California reggae-rock outfit Cydeways are set to release their new single “Ready or Not” on February 20, marking their first new music since 2025’s “Wasted Summer.”
The track arrives just ahead of the band’s upcoming West Coast headlining run, which will feature support from The Irie and Native Leaves.
“Ready or Not” opens with the warm crackle of what sounds like a tape deck clicking into motion or a vinyl needle settling into groove before unfolding into a polished blend of modern Cali-reggae and hip-hop production. Wide, textured guitars sit over punchy drums and thick low-end bass, creating a sound that leans contemporary while staying rooted in the sun-soaked bounce the band has built its name on.
Where “Wasted Summer” captured a laid-back, seasonal feel, “Ready or Not” feels more forward-driving and tightly constructed. The production carries a distinctly electronic sheen, layering rhythmic elements and atmosphere in a way that suggests the band continues to evolve beyond traditional reggae-rock frameworks.
With a new single landing Friday and a headlining tour on deck, Cydeways appear to be positioning 2026 as their next step forward.
