Four-time GRAMMY AWARD® winning artist Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley has joined forces with rising Colombian artists and brothers Kevin Flórez and Kingston Flórez for an anthemic new single, entitled “¿QUIÉN DIJO MIEDO?.”
“¿QUIÉN DIJO MIEDO?” finds these three mavericks rallying together on one global banger. Damian has proudly upheld reggae’s legacy throughout his iconic career, while Kevin and Kingston have quietly emerged as progenitors of the 21st century champeta movement. Both genres proudly share African DNA with reggae rooted in the rhythms of timeless African folk and champeta originating as a distinctly Afro-Colombian artform. Each of these styles rose up from the streets and amplified the voice of the people as a collective (another common thread between Damian, Kevin, and Kingston!).
On the track, an unshakable groove instantly sets the tempo. Kevin, Kingston, and Damian lock into a bulletproof back-and-forth as gunshot samples pop off in perfect time with the organic beat. The energy climaxes with an instantly chantable chorus as they sing, “¿QUIÉN DIJO MIEDO?”
Stay tuned for the premiere of an epic music video to accompany the single very soon.
Most recently, Damian shined with a soaring rendition of George Harrison’s classic “My Sweet Lord.” Earning widespread acclaim, BET proclaimed, “Damian Marley is entering his next chapter.” DANCEHALLMAG applauded how “Jr. Gong puts his spin on the spiritual anthem, giving the track a fresh sound with his signature reggae style and soulful vocals.” The track’s debut also notably marked his first solo project since 2019’s “Reach Home Safe” and his debut under his label, Ghetto Youths International, operated with his brothers Stephen and Julian Marley.
