Dirty Head’s New Acoustic Album Details!

Dirty Heads are returning home to their roots with the release of their new Acoustic album, aptly titled Home – Phantoms of Summer: The Acoustic Sessions. The all acoustic release will drop on October 29th, via Five Seven Music and will include 11 total tracks

The self-produced album features eight brand new tracks as well as an acoustic rendition of their single “Cabin By The Sea.” This album comes just a year and a half after the release of their last album Cabin By The Sea, which dropped June 2012.

When asked about the decision to make an acoustic album, Jared “Dirty J” Watson explains, “We decided to do an acoustic album because we wanted to get back to our roots and really expose our lyrics and voices. Breaking down to acoustic and being raw is very liberating as a songwriter. And the inspiration and vibe of this album is more sexy than anything we’ve done. We really just went for all vibe and feel.”

With regards to the title of the album, it actually plays on a continuing theme the band has evolved since their release of Sails to The Wind. Jared Watson explains, “The title ‘Home – Phantoms of Summer’ completes the thematic cycle of our first three EP’s and albums. The first was ‘Sails to the Wind,’ where we were just getting started and taking off, followed by ‘Any Port in a Storm’ which was us trying to find ourselves sonically and as a band. ‘Cabin By the Sea’ was a paradise we found and built after the storm. Now we have left that cabin and we are returning home to where we started, as an acoustic act. ‘Phantoms of Summer’ sums up these songs and this album, which was recorded over the summer, as well as the fact we are never home during summer so WE the Dirty Heads are also the phantoms of summer.”

Home for the band is Huntington Beach, CA where the group was formed in 2003. The group has found great success over the last 10 years, which, as Jared explained, led to them never being home for the summer, answering the demand of their music on the road.

Such is the case with their Acoustic album, the band will head out on a US headlining tour to support the release in October and November. It’s not known yet, if the tour & live performance will be stripped down to reflect the acoustic roots of their album, but the highlight of their upcoming tour includes a stop at one of the biggest growing music festivals with California Roots: Carolina Sessions in Wilmington, NC on October 26th, 2013.
