The Dirty Heads Song in Movie Trailer

Apparently actor Vince Vaughn has a new movie coming out on Thanksgiving called “Delivery Man” and the trailer features a song by none other than the Dirty Heads. The song featured on the trailer is “Lay Me Down”.

The movie Delivery Man is about an affable underachiever who finds out he’s fathered 533 children through anonymous donations to a fertility clinic 20 years ago. Now he (Vince Vaughn) must decide whether or not to come forward when 142 of them file a lawsuit to reveal his identity.

Check the trailer here as the song comes in at .46 seconds:

So the trailer doesn’t include any vocals, but it’s still pretty cool to hear a familiar tune from a hard working group in the Reggae-Rock community being shown some love in a major motion picture trailer. Whether or not the song will actually be used in the movie and a part of the soundtrack, has yet to be confirmed.

This isn’t the first time Dirty Heads have had music featured in a movie. In the summer of 2007, they were featured on the soundtrack to the computer-animated mockumentary family comedy film Surfs Up with the song “Stand Tall”. The movie was Sony Pictures Animation’s second film, the first being Open Season. On the official soundtrack, Dirty Heads were track 3, after Incubus and before Lauryn Hill. Not only was the song in the soundtrack, but it was featured during a pivotal moment in the movie as it plays while the main character comes into his own. If you’ve seen the movie, you know what I’m talking about. Surf’s Up was actually up for an Oscar, but sadly lost to Ratatouille. Being up for an Oscar proves that Surf’s Up was, and still is a great film, with an awesome soundtrack.

Then in 2008, the Dirty Heads had their song “Hip Hop Misfits” used in Matthew McConaughey’s flick, titled Surfer Dude. The movie bombed and went straight to DVD, but that didn’t compromise the fact that the entire song was virtually played during a backyard pool scene in the beginning of the film.
