Self-proclaimed ‘funk and reggae packed rock band’ Dispatch have built their foundation on their live shows and a tight-knit fan base that has steadied their ship for over 20 years. While things had been relatively quiet out of the Dispatch camp lately, the band released a new single this month and announced their “America, Location 12” US Summer Tour alongside Guster!
Throughout their career, Dispatch has only released a handful of full-length studio albums, most recently as 2012 with Circles Around the Sun. The album peaked at No. 24 on the US Billboard 200 Charts, and was the first album released from the Middlebury, VT based trio in more than a decade. The titled track “Circles Around The Sun” was featured in several shows and media outlets, including the video game “Need for Speed: Most Wanted” as well as several shows affiliated with Disney networks. Circles Around The Sun was a solid record for the group, emphasizing more acoustic, folk and drums with less reggae accents throughout the album while still incorporating the harmonious vocals that has been a staple in the Dispatch sound for so many years. The album was also co-written by all three band members Chad Urmston, Pete Francis and Brad Corrigan.
Fast forward five years later, and Dispatch has returned triumphantly with a new release. The new single, “Only the Wild Ones” can be described as upbeat, uplifting and lively. The song is acoustically focused but has a progressive feel throughout the duration of the song building into a moving finish -– a great addition and solid release from the roots-rock jam band sensations.

While details are still relatively unclear at this point, Dispatch had released via an email newsletter September 2, 2014 that production was underway for their sixth full-length studio album. “Only the Wild Ones” is the first piece of the puzzle to be revealed after the announcement of the track and upcoming tour earlier this month, and fans are hopeful that more music will be coming soon in support of the forthcoming record due for release in the summer.
Dispatch on Tour:
History has shown over the past few years that Dispatch will only play a few shows scattered throughout the year; most recently in the US with their sold out shows at Madison Square Garden in 2015. However alongside the release of “Only the Wild Ones,” the group announced that they will be hitting the road in June and July with support from Guster for their 2017 “America, Location 12” US Summer Tour. Dispatch will also be headlining the Levitate Music Festival in Marshfield, MA July 8-9. Check out the full listing of Dispatch tour dates below and don’t get shut out!
