Jakob Nowell Launches New Band ‘Jakobs Castle’ With New Singles

Jakobs Castle their first singles “Close Enough” and “Motel Radio” online today. The sound and aesthetic of the band aims to fuse the 90’s insouciance of Southern California’s past juxtaposed against modern underground internet culture.

Jakobs Castle is beach meets internet, pretty and gritty. This uncanny new take on SoCal music is on full display in the band’s first two singles.  “Close Enough” is a sleek weave of buzzy acoustic guitars, vinyl DJ scratches, and howling synth leads. While “Motel Radio” shows a different side to Jakobs Castle. A frantic Hyperpop banger complete with annoyingly catchy melodies and unsuspected dub breakdowns, “Motel Radio” channels both past and future.

The accompanying music video for “Close Enough” draws the viewer into a bizarre adventure of cursed flash drives containing glitched-out retro lo-fi performances infected by anime AI entities. The visuals culminate in a cliffhanger teasing the soon-to-be-released video for “Motel Radio”.

Jakob’s solo career emerged from the ashes of his former band’s breakup and final album Lawful Evil which was released earlier this year.

Jakob Nowell wasted no time as he immediately set out on the road with his new band Jakobs Castle on a full U.S tour with Sitting on Stacy. Which was followed by a West Coast tour supporting DENM. Jakob relentlessly continues his quest, recently giving show-stealing performances at this year’s Cali Vibes and Reggae Rise Up Las Vegas with future appearances slotted for Coachella and Beachlife.
