Stepping away from the stage in 2013, Kai Boy – a founding member of the OG island reggae band, Iration – has reignited his musical journey with a vibrant new solo chapter.
He helped shape the band’s early sound on releases like “Sample This” and “Time Bomb,” touring extensively from 2005 to 2013. Now, Kai Boy is back—and more focused than ever.
Now, he’s stepped into a new chapter as a solo artist, mixing island soul with heartfelt storytelling. Catch the full interview below or on YouTube.
Over the Last Few Years
In 2023, Kai “Kai Boy” Rediske linked up with Hawai‘i-based producer and artist Willz Kauhane of Glory Sounds Studios in Volcano, HI. Their chemistry was instant. It led to a string of collaborative tracks rooted in soulful melodies and modern reggae grooves. Their debut single, “Forgive & Forget” featuring Lopaka Rootz, held the #1 spot on KWXX FM for several weeks. The follow-up, “Reggae Holiday” featuring Geoff Weers of The Expendables and The Artist Koa, landed in regular rotation on Honolulu’s KCCN-FM 100.
Kai Boy is Back
Indeed, Kai Boy is back! This year, he released a trio of “Sweet Spot” versions—a deeply personal track written about the moment he met his wife 15 years ago. Anchored by the heartfelt chorus, “You hit me in the sweet spot / and of all the people in the whole wide world / only you have gotten through, yeah / you hit me in the sweet spot / never let you go, no,” the song captures the power of instant connection and vulnerable sincerity. The original version leans into a smooth, island reggae groove with gentle melodies and an intimate vocal delivery. Meanwhile, the “Pop Version” featuring R.J. Hildebrandt delivers a clean, radio-ready feel without losing the heart of the track. An instrumental version rounds out the releases, letting the warmth of the production shine on its own.
Behind the Scenes
Quietly but consistently, Kai Boy has also been making waves as a songwriter. He co-wrote “Music Is the Remedy” with Eli-Mac and Inna Vision. The track earned a spot on the Cali Roots Riddim 2023 project, curated by Collie Buddz and Johnny Cosmic. Whether he’s performing front and center or tucked away creating our favorite songs, one thing is clear—Kai Boy is back, and he’s all about uplifting messages and conscious vibrations: love yourself, love each other.
Looking Ahead
Now, as Kai Boy continues to grow as an artist, his mission remains crystal clear: to inspire, to connect, and to spread love through music. Excitedly, Kai Boy and Willz Kauhane are deep in the studio with more music on the horizon.
Grounded in intention and fueled by gratitude, this next chapter just might be his most powerful yet.
