Katastro Drops Release Date for Final Album “Until The End of Time”

Alternative outfit Katastro has announced the band’s final album, Until The End Of Time, in honor of their late lead singer Andy Chaves and has released their new single “Our Favorite Song” featuring all original vocals from Chaves.

Our Favorite Song,” the opening track of the forthcoming album due out October 4th via Kamp Records/Controlled Substance Sound Labs, was originally recorded years ago by Chaves. The band’s remaining members reworked the demo’s soundscape while keeping Andy’s original vocals to give the song a new life as they honor their brother. With electro vibes and a killer bassline, “Our Favorite Song” is the perfect soundtrack for dancing with your loved one during these warm summer nights.

It wasn’t long after starting to put this album together that we realized it was the most important thing we have been a part of in our lives,” shares Ryan Weddle, Andrew Stavers, and Tanner Riccio, then remaining members of Katastro.

“The process was long and incredibly challenging, but we could not be prouder of this body of work. Through time came personal growth and with the support of our listeners and community of artists this album has been a true collaborative effort to continue Andy’s legacy and the history of our band. Though it is bittersweet wrapping up the final album, we are filled with gratitude for the people that have been there for us through it all. We will love you until the end of time.”

On May 12, 2022, everything changed for Katastro. Following a performance at the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre and on the brink of a busy summer touring with Iration, the Tempe, Arizona-based quartet began working on new music in the Orange County, California studios of longtime pals Dirty Heads and noted producer Ryan “OG” Ogren [Doja Cat, Maroon 5, Kim Petras, Saweetie]. But on that day, a tragic car accident took the life of Chaves, their best friend and high school classmate, at only 32 years old.

Over the last two years, Katastro’s surviving members – Ryan Weddle (bass), Andrew Stravers (drums), and Tanner Riccio (guitar) – searched through hard drives and past recording sessions to collect any vocal takes from Chaves they could find. Until The End Of Time took shape as a way of paying tribute to Andy while allowing the band and their friends within the music community to work through their pain, proving to be both a healing and therapeutic process.

Until The End Of Time, the band’s seventh full-length album, is a sonically diverse collection that perfectly showcases Katastro’s unique style, which has always been a melting pot of rock, hip-hop, funk, pop, and reggae across their lengthy discography.

The 14-track album includes the previously released singles “Good Time” featuring Jared Watson and Duddy B of Dirty Heads and “Tell Me I’m OK” also featuring Watson, as well as the haunting album closer “Muse,” one of three tracks with finished vocals from Chaves and the final song written and recorded with all four original members. In addition to two other Dirty Heads collaborations, Katastro’s friends stepped up to contribute vocals for the album including longtime pals Iration, fellow Arizona rockers The Maine, Atmosphere’s Slug, Mouse Powell, Rome Ramirez, Artikal Sound System, Mike., and Common Kings. See below for full track listing.

Until The End Of Time marks the follow up to Katastro’s 2021 album, Sucker. The acclaimed collection, highlighted by their buzzy summer anthem “The Way I Feel,” represented a notably more mature sound for the band, who were on the verge of greatness. The eclectic songs on Sucker embody the constant loop of life, love, hate and wanting to break the pattern, providing something a little more positive to look forward to when everything feels off. With the untimely passing of Andy and Sucker representing the last full-length album fully recorded with his vocals, everything is most certainly off, but Katastro is hoping Until The End Of Time and their entire revered catalog can help in the healing process and keep their sonic legacy alive.
