Kaya Festival To Commemorate Bob Marley’s Kaya Album

On April 28th and 29th, 2018 at the NOS Events Center in San Bernadino, CA, Stephen Marley’s Kaya Festival will be dishing out a respected line-up of artists under the reggae-influenced hip-hop, R&B, Latin and world music umbrella.

The 2-day line-up is quite impressive, kicking off on Saturday, April 28 with Stephen Marley, Ziggy Marley, Damian Marley, Julian Marley, Ky-Mani Marley performing together for the first time in over a decade in Southern California. On Sunday, April 29, Stephen Marley will play an additional set, separate from Saturday as a special all acoustic Kaya album tribute will be performed to commemorate what is now the 40th anniversary of the Kaya record put out by his father, Bob Marley. The 10 track record was originally put out in 1978 and included such hits as “Kaya,” “Is This Love,” “Satisfy My Soul,” and “Sun Is Shinning,” among others. KayaFest_lineup-ig-portrait-2-26

Kaya festival was founded by Stephen Marley to provide, what is described as a socially conscious experience that utilizes the power of music and togetherness to honor his fathers legacy and his unified way of living.

In addition to all of the Marley brothers performing on Saturday, they will be anchored by live performances courtesy of: Skip Marley & Jo Mersa Marley, Common Kings, Action Bronson, Toots & the Maytals, Inner Circle, Marcia Griffiths, Kabaka Pyramid, Roots of Creation, Anuhea, and Indubious. Sunday’s line-up will include Ms. Lauryn Hill, Cypress Hill, SOJA, Chronixx, Third World, Bambaata Marley and JahStix.

Over 2 days, you will have a chance to see 8 different Marley’s performing while hearing 3 different generations of the Marley sound.

Inner Circle, the Original Bad Boys of Reggae, will be celebrating their 50th anniversary as a band. Roots of Creation will be performing their new Grateful Dub record, live, which are Grateful Dead songs in a dub version with one song that features Stephen Marley on the track “Fire.”

If it’s not enough to want to see Cypress Hill for their legendary catalog, it’s said that the group will be putting out a new record this year which could translate to new music being performed live. A new record from Kabaka Pyramid titled Kontraband should be dropping at any time and we can only imagine his set will include new music.

Unfortunately there’s a disclaimer that the line-up may change without notice, but the doors of the all-age 2-day festival open at 12pm at the NOS Events Center in San Bernadino, CA. General Admission tickets are $65.00 and $199.00 for VIP.
