Hawai’i singer/songwriter, Kimie, has posted pictures and status updates regarding the filming of her new video “New Day” to be released on April 1, 2014. With screen-shots of the scenic east side of Oahu and the gorgeous smile of Kimie, fans waited with eager anticipation for the first single from her new album to be released this summer.
When the day arrived, she joined the Island 98.5 Wake Up Crew to push viewership and we were treated with a clean recording of her acoustic guitar and amazing voice… for about 45 seconds. As Kimie was driving along an island road, the music stops and she gets rear-ended. The video turns into a commercial for First Insurance Company of Hawai’i with a reminder to check back on April 15, 2014 for an uninterrupted video. Happy April Fool’s Day from Kimie!
The Kona native’s hit song “Make Me Say” featuring Imua Garza, from her To The Sea EP, took over the Hawaiian airwaves and flew across the Pacific to reach the ears of fans on the mainland. She supported fellow islanders, The Green, for two shows in Honolulu before they headed across the mainland where she graced the stage and shared her beautiful and pure voice that supports her reggae, soul and acoustic style in 2013.
A diverse mix of music, including Bob Marley, Whitney Houston, Lauryn Hill, Israel Kamakawiwa’ole, and India Arie influences her. Kimie found her voice and a love for playing music at a young age while learning to play her father’s guitar. But it was being with reggae legend, Barrington Levy that convinced her to make the leap and start performing.
Be sure to check Kimie’s website on April 15, 2014 for the uninterrupted video for “New Day” (we hope) and catch her on tour this spring with Cas Haley, Mike Love and Tubby Love on The Spirit, Soul & Songs Tour that begins at the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles, CA on May 16th. She is also a welcomed addition to the lineup that makes up this year’s California Roots Festival in Monterey, California.
