On my drive to Neumo’s, Schoep and I were having a discussion about the band’s previous inclusion of horns used in a majority of their songs, prior to 2006. Did they simply cut out any of the songs that included brass instruments or would they get creative and incorporate their talents to make the songs more modern and in tune with the current line up?
When they played “Dinna Dawg (And The Inevitable Onset of Lunacy)” we were about to find out. When it came to an instrumental part of the song that needed a saxophone or trombone, Steve Choi proved why he is an incredible multi-instrumentalist and substituted the horns with a perfectly placed guitar solo.
