In March, the Grammy Award-nominated singer/songwriter/rapper released the most autobiographical work of his storied career – Matisyahu – an eponymous 13 tracks of poignant storytelling weaved into a shape shifting collision of reggae, hip-hop and boldly inventive pop, produced by and featuring the Colombian (Brooklyn-based) indie duo Salt Cathedral (Juliana Ronderos and Nicolas Losada). The album held a top 10 debut on the Billboard Reggae album charts, Matisyahu has recently been featured on SiriusXM’s Volume West, The Fred Minnick Show, Amoeba’s What’s In My Bag series, AXS TV, in Rolling Stone Brasil, and as a musical guest on Good Day New York, among others. Dripping with imaginative musical influences and fueled by a surprising redefinition of Matisyahu’s own artistic boundaries, the album’s both introspective and universally celebratory tracks are reflective of an artist who is eternally searching, and draws from his adolescence, fame, spiritual searching, transformations, and at the core, his family.

Matisyahu arrived as the artist’s latest achievement in an extraordinary recording and touring career that has included selling over 5 million physical albums, with over 500 million total career streams across all global platforms. Matisyahu has topped Billboard’s Reggae Album charts four times, initially with Youth which was Certified Gold and also hit #4 on the Billboard 200. His breakout hit “King Without a Crown” reached #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on alternative rock radio, and four of his last five studio albums have landed in the top 20 on the Billboard 200. Matisyahu’s remarkable global following is based largely on the strength of his transcendent live concerts, and he is a founding signatory of the Black-Jewish Entertainment Alliance and the Creative Community for Peace.
