Moon Taxi Signs with Ineffable Records Ahead of Summer 2025 Album Release

Nashville’s style-shifting band Moon Taxi is embarking on a bold new chapter, signing with renowned independent label Ineffable Records for their upcoming album, slated for an early summer 2025 release.

Known for their infectious fusion of indie rock, pop, and jam-band vibes, this partnership marks a deep dive into the reggae-inspired territory.

The decision to team up with Ineffable stems in part from the reggae expertise of Spencer Thomson, Moon Taxi’s guitarist and producer. Thomson has made waves in the reggae world over the past few years, working with Ineffable artists such as The Hip Abduction, Mihali, Claire Wright, and Coyote Island. This partnership seems like a natural evolution for Moon Taxi as they tap into Thomson’s affinity for the genre while continuing to expand their sound.

Ineffable Records, known for championing reggae music and independent artists, has established itself as a dominant force in the music industry. Operating under the broader umbrella of Ineffable Music Group, the label is home to out-of-the-box acts such as Stick Figure, The Movement, and The Hip Abduction. Beyond their focus on reggae, Ineffable empowers artists with creative freedom and innovative marketing strategies, making it a go-to label for boundary-pushing musicians.

Moon Taxi’s signing comes as the band kicks off 2025 with a string of tour dates alongside The Elovaters. The run includes a sold-out performance at the MGM Fenway Music Hall in Boston, as well as stops at Webster Hall in New York City, Electric City in Buffalo, and Denver’s iconic Mission Ballroom on March 1. Each show will also feature support from reggae-pop artist Surfer Girl, who collaborated with Moon Taxi last year on a remix of the track “Constellations.”

Fans can also catch Moon Taxi this summer at the just announced Point Break Fest in Virginia Beach, running June 21–22. The festival boasts a stacked lineup, including reggae heavyweights Slightly Stoopid, Stick Figure, 311, The Elovaters, and more, cementing Moon Taxi’s growing connection to the reggae and jam scenes.

The band has already started teasing their upcoming album with the release of two singles: the summery, dance-ready “Barefoot On The Dancefloor” and their recent collaboration with Mihali, “King of the Low.” Both tracks exemplify Moon Taxi’s knack for crafting unique anthems while hinting at the reggae influences likely to shine on their forthcoming project.

This new partnership with Ineffable marks an exciting period of growth and exploration for Moon Taxi, as they continue to push creative boundaries and connect with new audiences. With their unique fusion of styles and a packed schedule of live performances, the band is poised to make waves in 2025.
