With the album set to drop on Sept. 10th and the first release under Rootfire Records, Echoes From The Soul includes a 14-song bicoastal trip featuring guest collaborations with Scott Woodruff and Kevin Bong of Stick Figure, Frank Mitchell Jr. of Thievery Corporation, and others.
Here is what Alific had to say with regards to the song “Under Arrest, featuring Scott of Stick Figure:
“This track was originally started back in San Diego over 3 years ago. I came up with the beat and hook one night and the next day while driving with Scott (Stick Figure) to band practice, we listened to the song on a burned CD. Scott thought the beat was cool and just started free-styling to it a little. We then worked more on it together and Scott came up with the melody and chorus based on a true life experience (a story in itself). However, it was never completed and it wasn’t until 3 years later that he finally finished the lyrics, just in time to make on the album.” – Brendan Dane, aka ALIFIC

Alific Background:
The man behind Alific, Brendan Dane, lived in San Diego for six years and played bass in the reggae band Stick Figure. In early 2011, he relocated to Washington, D.C., where he was exposed to the DJ and electronic downtempo scene. His reggae-dub sound began to evolve, influenced by D.C. nightlife and local talent. Recording sessions followed, where he experimented with mixing reggae bass lines and downtempo beats. He has some of his remixes available for FREE download inside The Pier’s MP3 Massive.
The result of his work has led to his new album, Echoes From The Soul. Dane explains, “I’m excited about the direction the album took. My hope is that Echoes From The Soul feels as at home on U Street DC as it does on the San Diego boardwalk.”
Alific will be performing live throughout the fall in support of his new release.

Rootfire Records:
Founders Seth Herman and Curtis Bergesen began their careers in the music industry as a manager and a publicist, respectively. Over time their involvement within the reggae scene expanded, and Rootfire has developed a record label, clothing line, and cultural blog.
In May, Rootfire collaborated with Easy Star Records to co-release a limited edition vinyl compilation, Progressive Roots Vol. 001. Alific’s Echoes From The Soul is Rootfire Records’ first exclusive release.
