“Losing Faith” Background:
The brand new single “Losing Faith” follows last year’s summer anthem “Fighting Bull”, which is also available for FREE in our MP3 Massive section, as both singles are taken from the forthcoming debut album that the band hopes to release summer 2014.
The new single, “Losing Faith”, was recorded at Cube Studios in Cornwall UK by BackBeat Soundsystem vocalist, Dean Forrest. Here’s what he had to say with regards to the new track:
“I usually have a clear idea of how I want a song to sound right from the beginning, and the easiest way to achieve that is if we keep all the production and mixing in house…plus I really enjoy the process of building on a track in the studio and hearing the sounds in your head come to life!”
The new single is an upbeat reggae banger with a melancholic twist. Featuring funky horns, ska-infused beats and the pumping bass for which BackBeat have become renowned, the track also has a more delicate edge brought from Dean’s vocals – which ponder some of life’s frustrations where you lose faith in yourself and the path you’re on. Responding to Dean in the song’s bridge, is the band’s rapper Darren, who brings a positive and uplifting resolve.

8-piece funk reggae outfit Backbeat SoundSystem, formed in the charming Cornish idyll of St Austell & has been smashing up stages all across the UK. This is original music, groovy and affecting. Over their two debut EPs, the band have honed a bass-led party sound that is as infectious as it is sonically interesting.
On record, they use the full potential of the studio to craft a highly dynamic approach to recording, spacious multi-tracking and arrangements making the best of the format- but live, they are a different beast. The ‘serious pop’ songs’ inherent strengths come to the fore and explode in a haze of onstage energy and pumping rhythm.
BackBeat has shared bills across the country with the likes of Cypress Hill, Easy Star All-Stars, Plan B, Tinie Tempah and Dub Pistols.
The next 2 months, the band will be spending time in their studio finishing up writing for the next album & getting ready for recording which will take place in December with the hopes of releasing a full length album in the summer of 2014
