Doug Means Project –Benjamin Franklins (Feat. Rome & Jr. Demus
Here’s what D.M.P. told The Pier about the song “Benjamin Franklins”:
“Benjamin Franklins” was written during the recent economic recession that the world experienced. This track keeps me motivated, and inspires me in times of financial worries. When it was first written, I planned on singing the whole song myself. Then we learned that Jr. Demus was in town. I used to listen to his music back in the day on “The Good, The Bad, The Ugly, and The Crazy” album.”
Doug continued on to tell The Pier how Rome Ramirez, of Sublime with Rome, came to be on the song…
“When we were working on the album at 17th St. Studio in Costa Mesa, CA with Lew Richards, Rome would pass through and hang out with Lew. So, I figured we should just turn the whole song into a super-collaboration. Rome completely handled the second verse, and what you hear now is the result of all this. I feel blessed that everybody who was involved with this track were able to come together and make it happen.”
Doug Means Project – 2.0
You can pick up the rest of the album on Tuesday July 19th. The album is titled 2.0. It features a slew of guest appearances by Rome Ramirez (of Sublime with Rome), Jr. Demus, Toko Tasi, Jeremy from Meet Me at the Pub, Kat Nestal, and I Timothy on Trombone from the Untouchables. This new release also has a couple bonus tracks from the final Nobody Cares EP (Doug Means old group), and a unreleased song with Toko Tasi and Mic Dangerously from Zen Robbi. The first 11 tracks were recorded over at 17th st. Studio with Lewis Richards.
Doug Means Project Bio/Background:
With some of today’s music being more about the gimmick and less about the talent, the Doug Means Project (DMP) offers real music that is authentic and organic. Through the lyrics exuding the ups and downs of life, Doug believes the content will help people live their lives better. The DMP is a funky blend of rock, reggae and hip-hop.
Individual members of DMP have been around the world and across the country with various recording / touring artists such as: Eek A Mouse, HR of Bad Brains, Dave Wakeling of the English Beat, Michael Rose of Black Uhuru, and others. Doug Means Project’s music has been featured on Fuel TV’s “Standard Snowboard Show,” “10 Count,” and also in the NSS skateboard team’s latest film.
