Hot Rain – “Good Vibes” (ft. Peetah Morgan)
“Good Vibes” Background:
Interesting to find out that this song happened by chance. While in Hawaii, The Pier was able to meet up with members of The Hot Rain Band who were excited to share this new song with us. We’ve seen Hot Rain on tour with J Boog a lot in the past, mixing it up with the whole Wash House family and with our deep respect for the entire Morgan Heritage family, we were excited to have the opportunity to feature this collaboration by giving it away for FREE for the week.
Here’s what Hot Rain had to say about the collaboration: “Meeting up with Peetah Morgan was actually not planned at all. We just finished some New Year shows in Cali and had some studio time set up for us at the Wash House. We were basically just finishing up some tracks for our new EP. While we were doing work in the studio, Jonas Teele (CEO/Founder of Wash House) stopped by and brought Peetah with him. Jonas was the one who actually persuaded Peetah to check out what we were doing, and that’s how we started talking about recording together. Big thank you to Jonas for setting that up! So when Peetah came in, we started chopping it up about working together. Leslie Ludiazo (our drummer) said, ‘If you really want to do this, we’ll make a track right now,’ and Peetah then said, ‘If you have a track ready by tomorrow, I’ll be here ready to track vocals.’ Now Leslie was supposed to fly back to Hawai’i the next day. Right then and there he changed his flight and we started to work on the track, finishing it that night. The next day Peetah came in ready. Peetah and Carl Noa wrote the song together and tracked their vocals and the rest is history after that.”
Here’s what Hot Rain’s guitarist/vocalist Carl Noa had to say with his thoughts on working with Peetah: “I’ve actually worked on other projects with Peetah, but this was my first time writing and singing with him. I’ve always been a fan of Morgan Heritage. I would have never thought we’d ever get the chance to record with Peet, so I was super nervous during the recording process. It’s an honor to be able to record ‘Good Vibes’ with him! I’ve learned so much from it.”
