Morgan Heritage “We Are” Background:
As outlined by our own Brian Glaser, one of the many reasons Strictly Roots was recognized for being such an excellent album could be due to the fact that Morgan Heritage was able to collaborate with some of the biggest names in the scene (including J Boog, Eric Rachmany of Rebelution, Bobby Lee Jefferson of SOJA, Chronixx and many more).
Morgan Heritage has continued this trend with Avrakedabra as this record includes offerings of songs featuring Ziggy Marley and Stephen Marley, Drezion, Mr. Talkbox, a tribute track featuring the late Bunny Ruggs, in addition to Dre Island & Kabaka Pyramid.
“We Are,” is the song that features Jamaica’s Dre Island and Kabaka Pyramid over a track that was produced by Llamar “Riff Raff” Brown.
“When writing the song the idea came up to feature the 2 artists,” says percussionist/vocalist Mojo Morgan. “We reached out to them and they were all game to get it done. Their enthusiasm to work with us can be heard in the song.”
Lead vocalist Peetah Morgan added some additional insight into the background and meaning behind the track: “The statement ‘We Are’ makes is simple. The youth are the future! We are hoping to inspire the young generation to come together, mobilize and change the world for the better. The future belongs to the youth, and we want them to start at a young age on working to make the future of the world better for all mankind.”
When asked if this was a song we could expect to see in a music video, they replied: “Anything is possible! If we did make a video, it would probably look something like Crush Groove meets Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.

Morgan Heritage Background:
