“Make You Stay” Background:
2013 is expected to be a big a year for Natural Vibrations who have kicked things off with their latest single “Make You Stay”. In a direct quote from the group, here is what the Hawaiian band told us back in December: “We plan on releasing three singles! One in January, one in May, one in August and an EP in the Fall”. Thus far the group is staying true to their word and have been gracious enough to share “Make You Stay” for FREE via The Pier to kick off 2013!
“Make You Stay” was recorded with Lewis Richards at 17th Street Recording Studios in Costa Mesa, CA and features Travis Walpole of Fortunate Youth on percussions.
When The Pier asked Lewis Richards about the song, here’s what he had to say: “Their harmonies are awesome! The whole band sings great. In the studio each guy sang his own harmony which I thought was really impressive to give it a full sound, with different textures. We collaborated on the song together. I wrote a few parts and I actually played all the guitar and bass on the song.” Lew continued on to say “..the guys were very cool to work with and we all got along famously in the studio. I think we finished writing and recording all within 8 hours. It was a great session with great results and I can’t wait to do another song with them!”.
When we followed up with the group, here’s what Natural Vibrations’ lead vocalist, Penidean “Peni” Pau’auli had to say about the song’s origin…
“It’s a story about that love and that powerful attraction between two people that attracts you in the first place. It’s that first crazy feeling of love that starts the relationship. Then you spend time and get to know each other and things get tough. This song is about getting reminded about the love and power that brought you together in the first place. It is that love that is strong enough to ‘Make You Stay’ and keep it going. It is a story that everyone can relate to and it’s something we wanted the fans to know. We are still with you guys and we all got to find that one that’s going to make us stay.”

Natural Vibrations Background
Hawaii’s Natural Vibrations, a.k.a. Natty Vibes or Natural Vibes, was formed in 1996 on the Windward side of O’ahu by Penidean Pua’auli (vocals), Shane Abraham (keyboard, vocals), Kayton Macarlola (percussion, vocals), Stacy Medeiros (drums), Jehua Evans (bass, vocals), and Wayne Enos (guitar, vocals).
Their sound and vibe has earned them the respect of reggae’s biggest names along with multiple Best Reggae Album and People’s Choice Awards at the Hawai’i Music Awards, Hawai’i’s Na Hoku Hanohano Awards and 2012 Breakout Artist of the Year for the 2012 Pier Awards.
The same motivation and drive that has kept this group together and progressive for over 15 years, is the same drive that set their sites on spreading their music to the rest of the world for 2013. Starting with a relocation to San Diego, CA, a new partnership with Mana Thome of Polynesian Underground Management, Zack Johnson of Union Artists Group, Ilka T. De Leon of SEEN PR, Inc., and a jam packed national tour schedule, Natural Vibrations is positioned for a solid assault on the world music scene.
Their focus is to grow their fan base and record new music that will reflect their traditional sound with a fusion of the vibrant new vibe the band has created with their recent growth.
