Rising Tide Background:
I can’t remember the last time we features a group so new and full of music that the group doesn’t even have a group or press photo to include in this feature. Featuring core members of the world-renowned group Groundation, the band is composed of Marcus Urani (keys/producer), Ryan Newman (bass), Kim Pommel (vocals), Sherida Sharpe (vocals), Faith Waltson (vocals)—as well as virtuoso NYC-based Jazz-guitarist Yotam Silberstein and Bay-area heavyweight drummer Paul Spina.
While Rising Tide includes the core members of Groundation, one glowing name from Groundation that is not included in this line up is Groundation guitarist/vocalist, Harrison Stafford.
This new group, from what we’ve had the pleasure of hearing thus far, creates a sound that is both profoundly unique and entirely familiar all at once; Kind of like a modern take on something nostalgic.
Starting April 1st, the group will take their new show on the road through 11 total dates over 2 weeks as they play different cities throughout France. These musicians came together and began writing new music inspired by their travels. With top-shelf production, Rising Tide keeps a sharp eye on the issues facing our world today and an ear towards the unifying sounds found in all of those globetrotting tours.
Incorporating sounds from across the musical landscape and rooted with hard hitting conscious lyrics, the band has tapped into a deep and unexplored well of inspiration, clearly evident on their self-titled debut album, set to be released in March 2016.
