“Last Spliff” Backstory:
It’s easy to assume that a song titled, “Last Spliff”, is just another tribute to smoking pot. Just to be sure, we asked Ross May & he was excited to pull the curtain back on the track in explaining that there’s more depth to it than just smoking the last of your stash:
“It’s a song written ultimately about the internal conflict. That little voice inside your head you always reason with, but never tell anyone about because of how crazy it would sound. Its about being grateful for the moment while preparing for battle and realizing the greatest battle we will ever face will be against ourselves. We are our own worst enemy and that battleground is within. Its about your potential last night here. How would you spend your last meal around the fire with your family? Its funny how important the little things become in a situation like that. Its about gratitude and self sabotage and how we need 1 to overcome the other. The ‘Last Spliff’ is about the importance of a moment.”

Ross May Background:
Ross May, a native to Southern California, is a wildly dynamic artist that can be seen singing, rapping, beat boxing and playing guitar as a one-man-show or with an entire band incorporating upright bass, drums, percussion along with back up singers. Strapped with an acoustic guitar and an arsenal of firey hooks, he turns out catchy songs that are instant SoCal, feel-good classics.
Ross has the ability to switch from classic rock to deep-rooted hip hop on the same track without skipping a beat. Locally he is respected in the art of lyrical poetry, as well as raw, in-your-face, crowd-rocking talent & pays homage to some of the greats in his own creative and inspiring way.
May’s sound has been compared to Sublime, Maroon 5, Gym Class Heroes and even an “acoustic version of Rage Against the Machine”. In the past, he has collaborated with Clear Conscience and in 2013, Ross May joined forces with Damon Cisneros to write and record his first official debut album, Live Your Dreams.
