“Real Steel” Background:
The new album, Knowledge Shine Bright includes a few guest appearances, including rappers Mr Lif & Flex Mathews and chanteuses Candice Mills & Edy Blu who bring muscle and soul to a collection of 12 songs. The album is a 50 minute sonic journey that few contemporary bands have the fortitude to conjure.

Track 2 on See-I’s new album is titled “Real Steel,” Salem Steele reflects: “the inspiration and foundation of this track goes back to See-I’s very beginnings in the late 1980’s, and their very first See-I band, more of a digital dancehall affair. They used to perform a hit tune called “Tell It To You” as part of their set back then, and Zeebo’s son Salem Steele was dragged around to most of the gigs, even though he was just a little kid.”

Salem continues: “I remember them performing ‘Tell It To You’ at St Andrews and watching my Grandmother dancing to it with the college kids, (Haha). I think it was her favorite song by her sons (Rootz & Zeebo). I think that memory could have inspired my Uncle to use some of the vibes from ‘Tell It to You’ to create the brand new track ‘Real Steel.’

See-I Background:
Founded by brothers Arthur “Rootz” Steele and Archie “Zeebo” Steele, who have toured and performed for over 15 years as frontmen for the Thievery Corporation live band. See-I is comprised of Rob Myers on guitar, Ashish Vyas on bass, Jeff Franca on drums, Frank Mitchell on saxophone and Salem Steele on keyboards, all of whom live within the 10 x 10 mile square known as Babylon, er… the Nation’s Capital. From humble beginnings in North Carolina, the Steele Brothers got their start singing in the church choir and were soon transfixed by the funk, soul and rock sounds they heard on the radio in the 1970s. Decades of musical depth and experience are the secret weapons they bring to the table, both live and in the studio.
