“The 45” Background:
This is the opening track off of SkillinJah’s newest release Skillmatic, that’ll be released on December 5th via GanJah Records. When The Pier asked SkillinJah about the track, he simply replied, “This is the title track to Skillmatic, and what we feel this is a great intro to the new album, as well as a great intro to SkillinJah for anyone that has not heard [me] yet” -SkillinJah
SkillinJah Background:
Midwest reggae music is reaching a new frontier and SkillinJah is blazing the trail. SkillinJah may seem new to the reggae scene, but is really going on his 15th year in the business. Despite having over 200 singles recorded and released through various labels (Sony, VP) and with notable producers (Dean Frasier, Donahue Baker)and doing multiple stage shows from Jamaica to New York. It seems people are just now starting to catch on to his undeniable talent and skill that he has had plenty of time to perfect.
SkillinJah’s much anticipated third album Skillmatic will hit the digital market on Wednesday, December 5th 2012. This is his fourth release in less than two years with the GanJah Records label, founded by his former Jah Roots band-mate and friend, reggae veteran Josh Heinrichs. Skillmatic is a mix of roots and dancehall reggae supported by a full band sound, as well as tracks featuring the soft backing sounds of an acoustic guitar. SkillinJah’s unique reggae style and vocal cadence will certainly catch the attention of reggae music fans.
