Denver, CO’s Tatanka has been celebrating the release of their latest album John Dunbar since October. This is the 2nd song 4 months from their new album the group is will to share for FREE download, exclusive through The Pier. Lets check it out…
It’s not uncommon to have a reggae-rock group dish out a song that’s based around the topic of Marijuana. As if the genre doesn’t already come with the networking affiliation, it’s as if the sound acts as its own advisory that the reference is evident. So when we received the song from Tatanka, we asked them to give us a little background thats more definitive of it’s reference in the song. Check out what the group had to say in regards to the background of the song “Sensi Showdown” – Iam Gastl, Tatanka
Here’s what Tatanka’s bassist Ian Gastl told The Pier about “Sensi Showdown”
“Sensi Showdown is a down tempo track of ours thats inspired by from the greastest herb of all… The Ganja Sensi Marijuana. The lyrics are about the struggle between the use of the herb and current laws based against use. We would love to see a day where a responsible and able adult can smoke without worry or concern. This track was worked on in two different studios, the first one being Revolution Soundlab (Dave Jackson, P-Nuckle) and second being Scanhope Sound (Joel Scanlon, GPGDS.) This is one of the first tracks we wrote with a left handed synth bass. It seemed right to get dubby with the guitar chops and stickies. The track is an example of digital and analogue working together to create some heavy bass music!”
Homegrown in Denver Colorado, Tatanka is a three piece specializing in the sounds of dub, progressive reggae, and electro soundscapes. Heavy Caribbean drum and bass grooves provide the pulse for the party as the music invites you to get down and dirty. This trio of Denver dub samurai’s have released an E.P. entitled Sounds in Technicolor as well as their debut album titled John Dunbar back in October 2011. Sounds in Technicolor has reached over 4,000 downloads through Tatanka’s website and social networking sites.
