“Morning Ride” Background:
Set to release on April 23rd, Young Gifted & Yellow is a 2 Disc set that will include 40 fully re-mastered tracks & a 25 minute DVD. As a bonus, the deluxe package will include thorough liner notes written by reggae historian Noel Hawkins and a 25minute DVD of Yellowman’s 1988 electrifying live performance at Jamaica’s longstanding annual music festival Sumfest.
Of the 40 tracks featured on the Young Gifted & Yellow is the popular track “Morning Ride”. This is the song we’re giving away this week only and according to King Yellowman, the song pays tribute to Fae Ellington who was the first woman to host the morning show on the Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation (JBC). She hosted the show in 1974 and held that post for over a decade as well as one of the main news anchors on Jamaican radio & TV.
“Morning Ride” is a tribute to Fae Ellington and you can grab this song for FREE on our homepage & pick up the full 40 track release on April 23rd, 2013
Yellowman Background:
Born Winston Foster on January 15th 1956, Yellowman, aka King Yellowman, remains to be one of the most pivotal music figures out of Jamaica today. He was able to overcome Jamaica’s negative social stigma on albinism and embrace his uniqueness, hence his moniker Yellowman. The inimitable dancehall deejay rose to prominence in the 1980s during a time when roots reggae was flourishing with megastars like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Jimmy Cliff.
