Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Katchafire dropped “Love Today,” their 3rd single off the upcoming album Legacy. After the previous two singles “Addicted” and “Way Beyond” featured vocals respectively from Logan Bell and Leon Davey, “Love Today” highlights the smooth voice of Jordan Bell.
“Love Today,” released via Universal – New Zealand and Zojak World Wide, is also accompanied by a brand new music video by Polly Armstrong.
“Love Today” lends its roots across the entire globe. The track was written in Ngaruawahia, New Zealand, and the vocals and music were recorded in Hawaii, Australia, Jamaica, California, and New Zealand. The lighthearted, bubbly music video was also filmed in the Gold Coast, in Queensland, Australia.
Speaking on the band’s newest release, Jordan Bell explains, “The song is about loving something so much, that it empowers you and sets you free from your normal world – ultimately changing you for the better.” He goes on, adding, “The way this song came together is the epitome of the legacy kaupapa (theme). Katchafire is such a huge family – not only the core members but international members, as well as family, that have housed, fed, and looked after us on this journey. They have all played a part. ‘Love Today’ has many places to call home; like a child that is raised and loved by many parents… A true family effort and labour of love.”
Legacy, which is expected to drop in the very near future, will be the 5th studio album from the legendary reggae act out of Hamilton, NZ. It’s been 7 years since the all-Maori band put out their last studio album On The Road Again. Based off the three samples the band has released ahead of the album drop, we’re expecting a continuation of that infectious, feel-good music that has become synonymous with Katchafire.
