Premiere: Tropidelic – “Neighborhood” ft. Krayzie Bone & Prof

Out of Cleveland, OH is a well seasoned 6-piece reggae-rock, hip-hop band by the name of Tropidelic who are premiering their new collaborative single, “Neighborhood,” featuring Krayzie Bone and Prof, exclusively at The Pier.

The song comes courtesy of Ineffable Records and is a follow up to Tropidelic’s Nov 13th, 2020 album release, Of Illusion, that features an array of guest appearances, including: Dirty Heads, Matisyahu, The Elovaters, Schwayze, RDGLDGRN and more.

Still surging from that release, Tropidelic is allowing The Pier to premiere their first official single of 2021 with “Neighborhood.” Staying true to their collaborative spirit, Tropidelic tapped rapper, singer & producer, Krayzie Bone (of Bone Thugs-n-Harmony) as well as Jake Anderson, better known by his stage name as rapper, singer & songwriter, PROF, to round out the “Neighborhood” joint.

When discussing features for the track Tropidelic thought an upbeat flow would be a great juxtaposition against the laid-back production. Krayzie Bone is also from Cleveland, OH and is an artist that Tropidelic had hoped to work with for sometime now. As for Prof, he was someone that the band was fortunate enough to have crossed paths with during the 311 Caribbean Cruise in 2019.

“The track was crafted by our producer, Chris DiCola, and we were digging it immediately,” recalls vocalist and guitarist Matthew Roads. “We took our downtime caused by the pandemic to write the melody and layer on horns and guitars at our studio in the steelyard, Signal Flow Studios.”

Being born out of a pandemic, “Neighborhood” has a very mild reggae undertone nesting beneath a live, sexy hip-hop groove, marched over by bars of Rap verses only to be greeted with a melodic hook and subtle horns. Driving home the visual of the song is notable Cleveland artist and founder of iLTHY clothing, Glen Infante.

“Neighborhood is definitely a standout track from working with Trop thus far,” Chris shares. “It started as a really typical beat. One that felt good on a loop without sounding too repetitive, and one that had attitude while still having a laid-back feel. After we sat with it for a bit, all the guys developed some great ideas.”

In addition to “Neighborhood,” Tropidelic was featured on Little Stranger’s August 6th, 2021 single release of “Sunburn” via Ineffable Records.
