Announced back in February, after much anticipation, The Pier is stoked that the return of Blackwater Music Festival is almost here! Held in Florida at the Spirit of Suwannee Music Park, this year’s event boasts both national and regional talent from some of the best acts playing Reggae-Rock and Livetronica!
Happening Thursday, August 21 – 23, this year’s event includes two nights of headlining sets from Slightly Stoopid plus legendary Reggae and Ska acts, Stephen Marley, Steel Pulse and Fishbone. Supporting these veterans will be 24 other Reggae-Rock acts. Bands like The Expendables, Tribal Seeds and The Expanders from Southern California. East Coast Rockers, Ballyhoo! and Passafire as well as many other great bands from around the nation.
Also featured at Blackwater will be acts spread across the Jam-Rock, Funk, and electric genres. Festival staples like The Revivalists, Zoogma and Gramatik. In all, 46 acts are scheduled to perform at the Blackwater Music Festival. With bands spread across 3 stages, and playing into the late hours of the night, this weekend is shaping up to be one heck of a dance party and a great way to end the summer! Along with all 3 Days of music, camping and food in the midst of 800 acres of Spanish moss-draped oak and cypress trees along the Suwannee River, there is always a ton of fun activities like disc golf and biking. You can head down to the outpost for a bit of canoeing or kayaking, or go swimming just off the park’s white sand beach. A spot a bit off the beaten path, the beach offers the perfect place to relax. The festival even has it’s own Beach schedule, with bands performing right on the beach all after noon!
Blackwater has also announced plans for a waterpark-like Blackwater Chill Zone, an on-site “Cool Down Zone” filled with unique water attractions featuring Water Slides, Slip’n’Slides, Frozen Drink Bar and more!
