On May 27th, 2016, Jamaica’s Raging Fyah will drop their newest album, Everlasting. After successfully self releasing their first two albums, Judgement Day (2011) and Destiny (2015), the acclaimed Kingston-based five-piece will release their third studio album through the Dub Rockers record label.
Everlasting was recorded live at Kingston, Jamaica’s historic Tuff Gong Studios, and produced by the reggae entrenched Llamar “Riff Raff” Brown. Keyboardist Demar Gayle recently stressed the strong relationship the band has built with Riff Raff, noting, “We had the choice to work with any producer we wanted, locally or internationally and we chose Llamar.” Raging Fyah also linked up with fellow Jamaican artists Jesse Royal and Busy Signal, as well as California’s J Boog for special guest features.
Raging Fyah, hot off their first U.S. tour alongside Stick Figure and Fortunate Youth, have been dazzling crowds since their inception as a band in 2006. Roughly a decade later, they now rock stages from Europe to South America, the Pacific island of New Caledonia and all the way back to their homeland of Jamaica.
Kumar Bent (lead vocals), Courtland White (guitar), Anthony Watson (drums), Demar Gayle (keys), and Delroy “Pele” Hamilton (bass) combine their talents to form a sound steeped in the roots, but with their own unique, modern pizzazz. Raging Fyah cut their teeth as a backing band before realizing their potential and deciding to break out and record their own material.
Aside from an extensive run of tours, Raging Fyah has kept busy thus far in 2016 with a recent performance for the Chicago-based web series Audiotree Live and their silky smooth cover of “Milk and Honey,” which featured on VP Records’ We Remember Dennis Brown tribute compilation.
Though, Raging Fyah will spend the majority of the summer touring Europe, fans in the U.S. can catch them on May 29th, 2016 at the can’t-miss Cali Roots Festival in Monterey, CA.
