As Sublime’s 20th anniversary reissue of Look At All The Love We Found: A Tribute to Sublime gears up for release on May 9, 2025, “Slow Ride” is out now as the second single released of the upcoming album.
The Original “Slow Ride”: A Glimpse Into Sublime’s Early DNA
Originally, produced by Michael “Miguel” Happoldt of Skunk Records, “Slow Ride” first appeared on Sublime’s 1991 demo Jah Won’t Pay the Bills—a raw, lo-fi cassette that served as an introduction to the band’s hybrid of punk, dub, ska, and reggae. Over the last decade, the track has been worked on a few different times but never released.
While never a radio single, “Slow Ride” became a cult favorite. The track is slow-burning, percussive, and sparse—built on space and tension. It’s a snapshot of the band before the fame, before the hits, and before the tragedy. It’s Sublime at their most foundational: raw vocals, hypnotic basslines, and a rhythm that drips with the feel of Long Beach backyards and dive bars. Lifelong fans of Sublime have been anticipating it for years and now it is finally being released.
A Full-Circle Tribute: Slightly Stoopid Covers “Slow Ride”
Fast forward to 2025, and Slightly Stoopid and Stick Figure have taken on “Slow Ride” as their contribution to Look At All The Love We Found: A Tribute to Sublime. This marks the first time the band has officially released a Sublime cover—despite being deeply tied to the Sublime legacy since day one.
In the mid-’90s, Bradley Nowell personally signed Slightly Stoopid to his label, Skunk Records, while the band’s core members were still in high school. Nowell’s support didn’t just kickstart their career—it cemented a lifelong artistic connection. Since then, Slightly Stoopid and more recently Stick Figure have carried the torch forward, building a global fanbase and a sound that, while uniquely theirs, will always reflect those early roots.
The Tribute Album: Celebrating Two Decades of Influence
Originally released in 2005, Look At All The Love We Found was the first official tribute album honoring Sublime. The 2025 expanded edition doubles down with 36 tracks—a blend of re-released favorites and brand-new contributions from some of the most respected names in the scene. You can preorder it here.
This year’s contributors include Jack Johnson, Pennywise, Pepper, HIRIE, Common Kings, and more, alongside Slightly Stoopid. Proceeds from the album will benefit Agape Families, an Oregon-based nonprofit that provides support for children and families impacted by incarceration—an organization aligned with Sublime’s enduring message of community and compassion.
As the May 9 release date approaches, “Slow Ride” stands out as a highlight of the tribute album—a bridge between the past and present, linking Sublime’s earliest recordings to one of the bands they helped inspire.
