After spending the better part of the fall touring season on the road with Authority Zero, fellow reggae-punk rockers Fayuca will be embarking on the Spark The Flame Tour, powered by Silver Surfer Vaporizers. Fayuca will be touring with fellow AZ locals, Weird Is The New Cool. Read all the details inside.
Fayuca is a band that brings together elements of punk, ska, reggae, and Latin influences, drawing from the band’s heritage. Fayuca’s live performance is one to catch, and recently, High Times bestowed their Doobie Award for “Best New Underground Artist” in 2012 for the Phoenix, Arizona natives. Yet, Fayuca has been performing for the better part of seven years!
The “Valley of the Sun” three-piece band will be grandfathering another local band onto the national touring circuit, much like Authority Zero did with Fayuca years ago. Fayuca will be bringing up-and-coming funk-rock-hip hop outfit, Weird Is The New Cool, on their first extensive tour. According to lead singer and guitarist for Fayuca, Gabriel Solorzano, “There are not that many bands locally in Arizona that are truly willing and able to tour. It is easy to sell a few tickets for a local show, bring a good crowd and think you have made it, but there are so many more markets outside of your hometown, you know? Weird Is The New Cool just had everything together. All of them have solid heads on their shoulders and most of all, they have a great attitude about touring.”
As for the tour’s headliners, Fayuca will be performing new music from their upcoming album with their solidified and revamped three-piece lineup. Gabriel Solorzano told The Pier, “I’m pretty sure fans will dig Fayuca, especially with the new line up. Rafa is still killing it on the drums and Jared (The new bassist) compliments him very well. Jared is a great musician overall and has an amazing talent for plucking his bass. Expect to hear music from our previous recordings along with some new stuff from our record scheduled to release on May 7th, 2013.”
This tour, unfortunately, will not be a full-length national tour, spanning both coasts. Although the southwestern states of the United States will receive a full, country style helping of the Spark The Flame Tour. The tour will kickoff in Las Vegas, Nevada at Planet Hollywood before heading southeast to Texas for seven dates in the “Lone Star State”. In its entirety, the Spark The Flame Tour will feature 15-dates in 17-days.
