Stay High, the new project from Stick Figure bassist Tommy Suliman, has released its debut single “Treasure.”
Fusing sunlit dub grooves, surf-inspired rhythms, and easygoing storytelling, “Treasure” radiates themes of freedom, connection, and discovery. Stick Figure, aka Scott Woodruff, is featured on the track and also served as co-producer. While rooted in reggae, Stay High’s sound looks toward fresh horizons.
“‘Treasure’ is about balancing dream and reality – floating above the noise to find peace, while grounding in the simple joys of the beach, surf, and sunsets,” Suliman explained via press release. “The chorus brings it home: needing nothing, yet finding everything in this life. A reminder to always rise above, stay high, and embrace the unknown.”
“What started as a simple melody grew into something much greater, evolving into a full production,” Suliman elaborated further on social media. “Stick was right there over my shoulder while I learned the ropes of recording, and before long, he jumped on the track too. This is just the beginning of the Stay High journey, and I couldn’t be more excited to share the music.”
“Tommy produced the whole song himself (though I may have been leaning over his shoulder at times),” Stick Figure clarified on his own post. “Over the years, I’ve been showing him the ropes of recording and production, and it’s been amazing watching him take those tools and create something truly his own.”
Though “Treasure” marks the debut single from his project, Suliman noted that “this is just the beginning of the Stay High journey.” Here’s hoping a full album and tour plans are in the works.
