Some of the best reggae-rock music is coming straight out of Hawaii. One of the leading world touring bands emerging from the islands is undoubtedly, The Green! After sharing the stage with such notable acts as SOJA & Rebelution in 2012, The Green began 2013 in the recording studio!
In between their Liars & Lovers fall and winter tours, The Green took to the Hurley Studios in Costa Mesa, California, working with producer Danny Kalb (Ben Harper/Matisyahu). The Pier was fortunate enough to catch up with Zion Thompson (vocals/guitar) of The Green, right as their two-week recording stint wrapped up!
Zion Thompson stated, “Everything is just flowing so well and there are a few factors making that happen. First off we got to thank Bob Hurley, Greg Teal, Davey Warsop and the entire Hurley family for taking such good care of us while we record in their sick studio.”
Zion continued on saying, “We are also so stoked to be working with one of our favorite producers, Danny Kalb. Danny has been straight up smashing it in the studio and really impressing us with his constant hard work during these long 12-hour days. All this combined with some much needed relaxation at our beach house right across from Huntington Beach Pier has allowed us to make some of the best music we’ve ever produced.”
To date, there is no set release date for The Green’s upcoming album, but fans should certainly get excited for brand new music from these Hawaiian reggae-rockers at a live show near you!
The Green will kick off a 19-city U.S. tour on February 12 in California. They’ll be joined by supporting act New Kingston who is celebrating their February album release, Kingston University.
