Sublime’s Bud Gaugh Shares Feelings on Eve of New Single ‘Ensenada’

Sublime is less than 24 hours away from dropping their new single “Ensenada.” While new material from the reggae rock legends is naturally a reason for excitement from fans, drummer Bud Gaugh admits to The Pier that he’s feeling butterflies ahead of the official drop.

“Definitely anxious, anxious in a good way,” Gaugh confessed. “I can’t wait for everybody to hear it. And a little anxious in a nervous way – like I hope everybody loves it as much as I do ’cause it’s a great song.”

Some fortunate fans have already experienced “Ensenada” in concert, as Sublime has mixed the tune into recent set lists. Gaugh admitted it’s been entertaining watching the crowd react to “Ensenada” live during performances.

“Sometimes people are like, ‘Wait a minute. What did I just hear?’ You know, they’re confused. ‘Is this a cover or is this something new? What’s going on?’ And then there’s people that are back there that are just going, ‘Oh my God! Holy shit! This is the new stuff! Oh my God, yeah!”

“Ensenada” marks the first totally original song with Jakob Nowell as Sublime’s frontman. The single is available for pre-save now, with an official release tomorrow, July 18.
