Sublime Throw It Back To Their Backyard Roots In New “F.T.R.” Video

Sublime are taking “F.T.R.” back to where their story began: a backyard party. The band’s new music video finds them performing poolside as friends and family gather for a summer afternoon of barbecue, music and hanging out together.

The song appears on Sublime’s 2026 album ‘Until the Sun Explodes,’ and the video deliberately reconnects the current lineup with the loose, communal atmosphere that surrounded the band in its earliest days.

“For the record, this might be my favorite video of all time,” drummer Bud Gaugh said, describing Sublime as a band that started out playing backyard parties. The clip was filmed during a Fourth of July gathering with close friends and family.

‘Until the Sun Explodes’ became Sublime’s first new album in 30 years, bringing original members Gaugh and Eric Wilson together with vocalist Jakob Nowell, the son of late frontman Bradley Nowell. The record also features collaborations with H.R. of Bad Brains, Fletcher Dragge of Pennywise and G. Love.

The album’s title track gave the band another major alternative-radio success, spending three consecutive weeks at No. 1 on both the Mediabase Alternative radio chart and Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart. It followed “Ensenada,” which spent eight weeks at No. 1 in 2025 and also appears on the album.

The new video also arrives after Sublime’s self-titled album was certified Diamond by the RIAA for more than 10 million units in the United States. The band received a commemorative plaque at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, where they performed an acoustic set alongside the ‘Sublime: Straight From Long Beach’ exhibit.

“F.T.R.” keeps things considerably simpler: a pool, a barbecue, live music and the people closest to Sublime. It’s an easy-going visual that connects the band’s present-day lineup directly to the backyard-party spirit that helped start everything.
