The Green to open for Bruno Mars!

Bruno Mars has been blessed with the new island sound to open up for his three sold out dates in Honolulu, Hawai’i. Accompanying Mars’ on stage will be The Oahu-based & beloved sextet, The Green!

One might think that The Green’s luck might run out one of these days. That is, until one realizes that it’s not luck that is driving the current rise and success of The Green, but rather the result of a band that works harder every day on and off the road.

The Green recently went up against Switchfoot, The Black Keys, and Johnnyswim to determine whose song would be featured in an upcoming episode of Hawai’i Five-O. After a hard fought, back and forth battle with Switchfoot during the home stretch, The Green fans proved their mouse clicking fingers were in better shape and the island grown reggae rockers deserved to be featured on a show set on their hometown of Oahu. The final phase 1536517_10152100321408118_573445749_nof the Fan Built Five-O contest begins March 7, 2014 where fans will decline on a title of the episode that will air sometime this season. Hawai’i Five-O is broadcast Fridays, 9:00 PM PT, on CBS.

If it wasn’t enough to get featured during prime time, The Green was asked to open for Bruno Mars for all three of the Honolulu dates of his Moonshine Jungle Tour. With the help of number one singles, “Just the Way You Are” and “Grenade”, his debut record, Doo-Wops & Hooligans was nominated for seven Grammy Awards and won Best Pop Vocal Performance.

He performed the hit “Locked Out of Heaven” from his second studio album Unorthodox Jukebox at the 2013 Grammy Awards where he was joined on stage by Ziggy and Damian Marley as a tribute to Bob. The modern day pop superstar more recently appeared with the Red Hot Chili Peppers during halftime of Super Bowl XLVIII.

The Green’s JP Kennedy and Bruno Mars are high school friends and will make history by sharing the stage in their hometown. “It’s a great feeling to be asked to open these sold-out Honolulu shows. Bruno is the real deal, he is the CEO of his business” says Kennedy.

The Green will headline shows in Las Vegas, NV and Anaheim, CA before heading back to open for Bruno Mars. They will continue their insane schedule and head back to the mainland for a West Coast tour, including a performance at this year’s California Roots Festival. Hawai’i fans, reward your superlative clicking skills by tracking down tickets to one of the sold out shows at the Neal S. Blaisdell Arena on April 18th, 19th, and 21st.

April 15th, 16th, and 17th, The Green will be heading to Las Vegas and two shows in Anaheim with Stick Figure and Hirie. Following their arena appearances the Honolulu, The Green will head back to California where they will tour with The Movement and Hiries all through the Golden State. Fans will be able to see The Green at the California Roots Festival Memorial Day weekend and again at the Wakarusa Festival in Ozark, AR. If San Diego fans miss the chance to see them at The Belly Up in Solana Beach they will have a second chance on August 8th and 9th at the Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa where they will support Iration and Rebelution.

The Green concerts originally scheduled from April 18-26 have been RESCHEDULED to happen in May. All tickets will be honored.
