The UK’s Hollie Cook Set to Release ‘Vessel of Love’ & Tour U.S.

On January 26th, Hollie Cook drops her 3rd full length album, a 10 track record titled Vessel of Love via Merge Records. The second single from the record has now been made available with “Stay Alive,” further justifying her inclusion inside our 2018 Most Anticipated Albums.

Back in the day I remember waiting outside of record stores for albums to be released and sometimes I was allowed to stay up late for stores to open their doors at midnight. This day in age, it is few and far between that I feel that same excitement, that same anticipation as I felt standing in those lines — Hollie Cook drums that excitement up in my musical soul as her songs are in constant rotation on my playlists. Although Hollie considers her music to be “tropical pop,” she has one of the most unique and haunting voices in Reggae.

Hollie comes from a deep lineage of music — her father was Paul Cook of the infamous Sex Pistols, her mother was a backup singer for the Culture Club, and was part of the last lineup of the Slits which was an all-female British punk/reggae band.

“Stay Alive,” is a wonderful track that features Hollie’s soulful lovers rock inspired vocals as you can hear below. Discussing the new single, Hollie explains: “This was the second song written for the album! For me it’s about having bad days and feeling together in loneliness, as well as what we do to feel alive.” A Hempolics remix and dub version of the track has also been released which can be heard by clicking HERE!

The new single has picked up steam, being added to BBC Radio 6 Music A-List and foreshadows an exciting upcoming album. Hollie regularly receives praise from critics for her accessibility and listen-ability, and much attention is paid to her musical legacy. If this song is any indication, Vessel of Love will find its home among vinyl collectors and fans of lovers rock, further cementing Hollie as one of the most original and beautiful voices in reggae music.

You can stream her music on all of the platforms or you can own it via iTunes by clicking HERE!

Luckily, we don’t only have to admire this UK songstress from afar as she has released select US dates for March that includes stops on both the East & West coast.
